API & microservice development
I build the backend services that connect applications, devices and business tools. The focus is a clear interface, predictable behaviour and a system your team can maintain.
A useful API starts with its consumers: which data they need, who may access it and what happens when a dependency is unavailable. I work on request validation, permissions, database design and integration boundaries before adding endpoints. Existing systems can be extended without replacing every component.
What I can help with
- REST APIs and documented request and response contracts
- Authentication, role permissions and input validation
- Webhooks, WebSockets and third-party integrations
- Microservices where separate deployment has a practical benefit
- Database access, migrations and automated backend checks

From my engineering experience
In my integration work, a shared backend sits between physical devices and applications. Separating the public request from the device-specific implementation makes it possible to support different hardware through the same interface. Timeouts, explicit error states and permission checks belong in that boundary, rather than being repeated in each client.
Delivery & collaboration
The handover can include API documentation, configuration instructions, tests for agreed workflows and deployment notes. We agree the responsibilities for monitoring and future changes before launch. A small, cohesive backend is often the right starting point; a service split should solve an actual scaling or ownership problem.
